Depending on your country of origin you do not need a visa to enter for a maximum of 15 days. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and the last departure from Vietnam must be at least 30 days ago. For visa-free entry, a printout of the return ticket should be carried.
A visa is required for longer stays, which can be applied for online or as an e-Visa prior to entry.
However, all foreign tourists are required to have travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of $10,000 that includes COVID-19 treatment.

The Vietnamese Dong is the official currency of Vietnam.

Money can be exchanged at banks or exchange offices. For security reasons, please refrain from exchanging money with private individuals.
In Vietnam, the basic ingredients of most dishes are rice, meat, fish and vegetables, which are prepared differently depending on the region. Vietnamese cuisine is characterized by fresh herbs and fine aromas. The rice noodle soup "Pho" is particularly popular as a national dish. Be sure to try cha ca la vong (La Vong grilled fish), nem cua be (crab spring roll), bun bo hue (beef noodle soup) or the Vietnamese cake Xèo.
Vietnamese is the country's official language, composed of Latin characters and has undergone several changes throughout history. So it happened that during the foreign rule of the Chinese, numerous words from Chinese were introduced and the language differs from today's form. Vietnamese characters did not exist until the 13th century. From the 16th century the country experienced European influence from France, Spain and Portugal and with it the Latin characters were integrated into the country.
The Vietnamese constitution provides for general freedom of belief and religion, so over 80% of the population are atheists. Due to the influence of China and India, a total of four philosophies and religions are largely responsible for shaping the country: Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism and Christianity.
Vaccination against influenza, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis are recommended travel vaccinations. Make sure that the standard vaccinations are up to date.
Upon arrival at the airport, all travelers must present a negative COVID test. Both PCR tests (maximum 72 hours before departure) and antigen tests (maximum 24 hours before departure) are accepted. Children under the age of two are exempt from this. The COVID tests must be carried out by a state-recognized or certified body.
