Peterhof or Petrodvorets is a magnificent museum complex with parks and castles is world famous due to its unique fountain system. The best time to visit it is summer. The fountains are in operation all day, their mighty water jets glisten in the sun.
In the beautiful lower park we can marvel at a variety of artistic water features. The park was designed in baroque style based on the model of Versailles, the residence of the French king Louis XIV. Typical of this style are symmetrical avenues, trees and hedges cut into geometric figures, lawns and flowers planted in ornaments, elegant pavilions and numerous sculptures. The architect Johann Braunstein developed the general plan of the residence based on sketches by Tsar Peter the Great. The main structure of the Lower Park in Peterhof is the Grand Cascade with its 138 water jets and the Samson fountain in the middle.
They consist of several individual fountains, which together with gilded bronze sculptures and other decorative elements form a unified whole. You can also find individual water features here, which are decorated with beautiful marble sculptures and the "prank fountain".

• Excursion to Tsarskoye Selo, Catherine Palace & Catherine Park

Approx. 25 km from St. Petersburg there is a magnificent complex of beautiful buildings and artfully designed parks - Tsarskoye Selo. It was a summer residence of the Tsars, which since 1990 is included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.
The most important sights here are the Catherine Palace, the Alexander Palace, the Pushkin Museum, a large number of palaces and pavilions and the city center of the residential city.
The Catherine Palace was built for the future wife of Peter I, Catherine I, and then completely rebuilt in the Russian Baroque style for his daughter Elizabeth Petrovna in the middle of 18th century. Elisabeth loved magnificence and pleasure. Her palace with numerous gilded carvings, mirrors and stucco decorations was considered the largest and richest summer palace in Europe. To the east and south of the Catherine Palace extends the 100-hectare park, which houses numerous small pavilions, sculptures and picturesque ponds. It was created in two parts and consists of a regular baroque French garden and the shady English landscape park. There are also artificial lakes and canals spanned by small bridges or surrounded by romantic paths. A number of monuments commemorate the first Russia–Turkey war. Today the Catherine Park is the ideal place for a relaxing walk in a wonderfully beautiful environment.
