Arrival and transfer to the hotel in Antananarivo

1st highlight: the former royal palace Rova
After breakfast we go to the majestic sight Antananarivos - the former royal palace Rova. The palace served as the home of the island's rulers in the 17th and 19th centuries and includes the royal palace of Manjakamiadana, a chapel, and royal tombs. Due to its high location, the palace towers can be seen from various points in the capital. In addition, from this palace hill there is a breathtaking view of the whole city.

2nd highlight: Drive to the Blue Hill
The island is historically very interesting because the ancestors of the Merina, who belong to the Austronesian peoples, migrated from the Malay archipelago to Madagascar 2.000 years ago and settled in Imerina, the highlands of central Madagascar. Because of them, the country is still shaped by Indonesian influences today. We walk through the royal fortress of the Blue Hill, the old town with its historical buildings, holy places and the central assembly point of the city. Along the way we will learn why this place is a spiritual and cultural symbol as well as a place of pilgrimage for the residents.

1st highlight: Flight and stay in Fort Dauphin
After breakfast we head to Fort Dauphin. Our driver takes us to the airport, then we fly to the south of Madagascar. Due to its diverse flora and fauna, this is rightly one of the most visited regions in the country.

2nd highlight: the prickly forest
The spiky forest of the Berenty Reserve is characterized by its unique ecosystem. Almost every plant in this forest is covered with thorns and has thus adapted to the incredible aridity of this climatic zone.

Highlight: The Berenty Nature Reserve - all dayThe reserve consists of the harsh thorn bush savannah. We mainly find baobabs and the well-known triangular palm, which got its name from its trunk shape. The main attraction of the area is the Sifaki lemur, which we can observe up close, as the little animal is not shy. With a bit of luck we will also find two of the reserve's endemic bird species: the silky cuckoo and the cute hooked vanga.

Additional option: night walk through BerentyAt your request, we will take another walk through the thorn forest in the evening and look for the mouse and weasel lemur. Both belong to the group of lemurs and are nocturnal. These cute animals often hang on the trees at head height and calmly eat their leaves.

Overnight at Berenty Forest Lodge

Highlight: Andohahela National Park - all day
This beautiful park is located in the southeast of the island and, due to its different altitudes, includes almost all vegetation zones in the region. At an altitude of 200 - 2,000 m we discover 13 species of lemurs, hundreds of species of birds and countless geckos and snakes - the longest of them is up to 13 m long.

Overnight in Fort Dauphin

Highlight: The Nahampoana Reserve - all day
The reserve extends over 50 ha and combines the flora from the south and east of the country. The highlights of it are the Madagascar palm, the niaouli tree, the carnivorous pitcher plant and the ravinala, the fan-like "tree of travelers", which is also the coat of arms of the country. We can also see lemurs drinking and playing around the picturesque waterfalls and natural ponds at any time of the day.

1st highlight: Flight to Nosy Be
In the morning we fly to the paradise island of Nosy Be, which with its white sandy beaches, the azure blue ocean and the colorful underwater world makes a true holiday dream come true.

2nd highlight: free time - all day
